Nadia Diaz Professor Definition Analysis Attribution process- the consistency of the actor's behavior (Does he or she always behave in this manner, in other situations, and at other times?), consensus (Do others behave in the same way in the same situation?), and/or the distinctiveness of the action (Is he or she the only one to behave in this manner?) My def-is where an individual explains the causes of behavior and events Ex-When my sister was behaving because she wanted cookies for a snack even though she had just finished eating lunch and I had to explain to my parents why she was throwing a tantrum in the kitchen Cognitive misers- we are always looking for ways to conserve cognitive energy My def- is a social psychology theory that basically states how humans find different ways of saving time and effort when negotiating with people in the world. Ex: My sister trying to negotiate with my mother so she could play video games, her proposal was that if she did all her chores AND vacuumed everyone's room could she then play video games. My mom's answer was still no Framing- whether a problem or decision is presented in such a way that it appears to present the potential for a loss or for a gain. My def: depending on how a problem or a decision is presented to others in such a way that potential it could either be a loss or a gain. Ex: Asking my parents if I can go to Temecula with my boyfriend for the day, but also giving them the pros and cons of them coming to pick me up afterwards. For example, after they pick me up my mom can go to her favorite craft store or to the mall to shop for the baby Dilution effect- the tendency for neutral and irrelevant information to weaken a judgement or impression My def: Someone says something of importance but you have the tendency to use neutral or irrelevant information to weaken the judgment of other people Ex: My 13-yr. old sister wanting to go to the beach with friends but I contradict it with "irrelevant" information that ends up annoying her and she stops talking
